BMO Bank’s Hollywood grand opening needed an entrance people couldn’t walk past. We built a 25 to 30 foot grand opening balloon arch in BMO’s brand blues, framing the doors at Sunset and El Centro so the ribbon cutting looked as big as the moment actually was.
Here’s what went into that arch, plus the sizing, timing, and durability basics you’ll need for your own launch.

BMO Bank’s Hollywood branch opened at Sunset and El Centro, and the assignment was straightforward: make the entrance impossible to miss. We designed a balloon arch standing 25 to 30 feet, built in BMO’s brand blues with a matte base and chrome accent pops, and positioned it to frame the doors and signage directly.
The arch did the job on both ends. From the street, it cut through the usual corner clutter and pointed foot traffic straight to the entrance. Up close, it gave the ribbon cutting a backdrop that made the ceremony feel like a real event, not a folding table and a pair of scissors. The photos looked bigger, brighter, and more press-ready than a standard storefront banner would have delivered.
This is the kind of project that also sits inside our broader corporate event balloon décor work: a bank grand opening carries the same brand-accuracy and timeline pressure as a product launch or an activation, just compressed into one morning. If you want to see more of what that range looks like, our installation portfolio has further examples.
Not every grand opening needs a 25-foot arch. A storefront-width arch framing a single entrance can carry plenty of visual weight for a boutique, salon, or single-door retail space, while something closer to the BMO scale makes sense for a bank branch, a restaurant with a wide frontage, or any launch where the goal is stopping traffic from across the street or a parking lot.
Placement matters as much as size. An arch works best when it frames the entrance itself, not just sits near it. For multi-door storefronts, balloon columns flanking each side often do more work than a single arch stretched too thin across the whole frontage. Our car dealership event ideas piece covers a few of those layouts if that’s closer to your event.

The BMO arch worked because it read as BMO from across the street, not as a generic blue balloon arch. We matched the exact brand blue and mixed in chrome finishes so the piece had depth under daylight instead of looking flat. That kind of brand-accurate execution is standard on our grand opening balloon decor projects: color matched to your brand book, logo elements integrated where the design supports it, and finishes chosen so the arch photographs well.
This is also where DIY or budget setups fall short. Off-the-shelf balloon kits come in a handful of stock colors, which is fine for a birthday party and off-brand for a launch. If you’ve seen our corporate balloon installations in Los Angeles work, the same color-matching standard applies here at a smaller scale.
Most grand opening arches install the morning of or the evening before, depending on venue access and whether the space needs to stay clear overnight. For the BMO launch, that meant coordinating load-in around the venue’s schedule, handling a certificate of insurance for the property, and protecting the sidewalk and entrance during setup. None of that shows up in photos, but it’s what keeps the morning from becoming an emergency.
Outdoor durability depends mostly on conditions, not luck. Heat, direct sun, and wind are what shorten a balloon arch’s life, so we plan placement and treatment around that week’s weather rather than promising a fixed number of days. Being photo-ready 30 to 45 minutes before speeches start gives enough buffer for last-minute touch-ups without rushing the install.
This is also where it’s worth being careful about who you hire. We’ve written before about why you should never hire the cheapest balloon company for exactly this kind of high-visibility, one-shot event: a launch only gets one grand opening day, and a rushed arch doesn’t get a second chance to look right. If you’re comparing vendors, our post on the best balloon decorator in Los Angeles walks through what to actually look for.

A grand opening balloon arch is one of the easier pieces to lock in early, once your date, location, and brand colors are set. We recommend reaching out as soon as you plan your grand opening timeline, since brand-matched builds like the BMO arch need lead time for sourcing and design, not a same-day setup. If you’re still shaping the rest of the launch, our post on corporate event design trends is a useful read alongside this one.
