Los Angeles, we’ve got exciting news.
The Balloon Guy is now a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBTBE) through the National LGBTQ+ and Allied Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). For companies building diverse supplier programs, that means a new, verified vendor ready for procurement. For us, it means something more personal: a milestone built on who founded this company and who it has always served.
NGLCC certification verifies that a business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by LGBTQ+ individuals. We went through the full NGLCC LGBTBE certification process, including a site visit and review by the National Certification Committee, to be recognized formally rather than just informally.
That verification is what makes the certification useful to a corporate partner: it’s not a self-declared label, it’s a third-party confirmation. NGLCC is the largest LGBTQ+ and allied business development organization in the world, connecting certified LGBTBEs with corporate and government partners actively building out supplier-inclusion programs.

Sean Edwards started The Balloon Guy from a mall kiosk, building the business one client at a time with no outside investors. That same person is now running a company recognized nationally as LGBTQ+ owned. As Sean puts it, “I built this company one balloon at a time, with no roadmap, just heart, hustle, and a belief that joy has real value.” This certification is an extension of that same story, not a departure from it. It reflects who we are and who we serve: a creative, inclusive Los Angeles, and companies that value both excellence and equity.
You can read more about our founder’s story and our team behind the work we do every day. Locally, the certification connects us to the Los Angeles LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, and it’s part of how we think about careers at The Balloon Guy too.
For procurement and event teams, this certification does real, practical work. It counts toward LGBTQ+ supplier-diversity goals, and our operations are built to match: certificates of insurance, W-9s, NAICS and UNSPSC codes, and references are ready the moment you need them. We participate in the NGLCC Supplier Inclusion Initiative, which makes it straightforward for enterprise and Fortune-level brands to bring us into Tier I or Tier II supply chains, and for existing Tier I suppliers, we can team up directly for Tier II reporting.
What we bring beyond the paperwork is our portfolio of corporate work: precision installs, camera-ready environments, and reliability at scale for brand activations, corporate event balloon décor, galas, and influencer and brand activation events across Southern California. You can see that range in more depth in our post on corporate balloon installations in Los Angeles. The same standard applies to nonprofit event decor for organizations building out their own diverse-spend reporting.
Working with us starts with whichever step fits your process. If your company uses a vendor portal, add us and we’ll complete registration quickly. If you’re further along, send an RFI or RFP for a launch, grand opening, conference, gala, or awards night, and we’ll respond with concepts, budgets, and timelines.
A poorly executed high-visibility install can undo the value of good paperwork, so we hold the same standard here that we hold everywhere: we’ve written before about why you should never hire the cheapest balloon company, and it applies just as much to a Fortune 500 activation as it does to a storefront launch.
Certification by the National LGBTQ+ and Allied Chamber of Commerce verifies that a business is LGBTQ+ owned, operated, and controlled, and qualifies it for supplier-inclusion opportunities.
